SACRAMENTO – On May 11, the California senate voted 22-15 to pass SB 1437, by Santa Monica Democrat Sheila Kuehl, "an act to amend Sections 51500, 51501, and 60044 of the Education Code, relating to prohibited instruction."
The bill prohibits the adoption of textbooks or other instructional materials that "contain any matter that reflects adversely," on persons because of their race or ethnicity, gender, disability, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion.
