As far as I can tell, it works the other way around -- you have to fail your way up the chain to the NYT op-ed pages.

....all we need is some scoring system whereby people who are wrong in the NY Times get demoted to, say, Cincinatti, then Omaha, then one of the smaller Springfields..... Then someone who's been right could move up the chain.
I don't know if blogs are a different division, a different league, or a different sport entirely, though.
