"Abolish the Monarchy!"

226 years after the Treaty of Paris which formally ended the American Revolutionary War, it seems that a heckle of"Abolish the Monarchy!" still upsets the British establishment. I guess that's why Parliament has yet to repeal the Treason Felony Act 1848.

The occasion you mentioned took place at The Royal Institute of British Architects. There were no empty seats in the auditorium as a planned boycott of Prince Charles' speech fizzled.

One woman shouted "Abolish the monarchy" as Prince Charles and his wife Duchess Camilla left the auditorium. One architect stood up and shouted No in reply.

As long as the British Monarchy enjoys more than 75 pc approval and the politicians discredit themselves with a very generous payment and allowances, I see neither the need nor the danger of an abolition of the Monarchy.
