Republicans Say Adios To Tax Relief (Katrina Legacy)
Governor Sonny Perdue of Georgia wisely responded to Katrina by implementing tax relief to ease the pain.
Instead of following suit at the national level (what better time than now?), the Republicans in Washington are headed in the opposite direction. The stupid party has set itself up for a big fall in 2006 and beyond. Via Robert A. George comes the following:
One sign of GOP unease: The Senate was supposed to vote this week on whether to permanently repeal the estate tax, but Frist said yesterday that the bill will be temporarily shelved. The announcement came two hours after Senate Minority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) called for Republicans to back off tax cuts in the wake of the Katrina tragedy.
