Monica Lewinsky says Bill Clinton lied, new book claims
Monica Lewinsky claimed that former President Bill Clinton lied under oath when he described their liaison during the impeachment trial, according to a new book.
"The Death of American Virtue" by law professor Ken Gormley also asserts that Mr Clinton had long-running affair with Susan McDougal, a key player in the Whitewater scandal.
Miss McDougal, from Mr Clinton's home state of Arkansas, spent 18 months in jail after refusing to answer questions from prosecutors and was pardoned by Mr Clinton in 2001 in the final days of his presidency.
The author was granted three interviews by the former president and eight by Ken Starr, the independent counsel whose pursuit of Mr Clinton led to him becoming only the second US president to face impeachment.

In an email to Mr Gormley, Miss Lewinsky made it clear she believes the president lied.
Though the turmoil caused by the saga has subsided with time, Mr Clinton acknowledged in the book, which will be published in February, that he "will always have an asterisk after my name".
One person not interviewed for the book was Hillary Clinton. Mr Gormley said he asked repeatedly for a meeting but was never granted one.
