David Greenberg, associate professor of history and journalism & media studies at Rutgers Universty, discusses the state of the presidential history field, and the value of the dialog that the "Recasting Presidential History" conference -- held Oct. 26-27 at the University of Virginia's Miller Center, has opened between historians and political scientists.

The next conference, he suggests, should also include the dreaded "presidential biographers" who have been the subject of much criticism over the weekend.
